At last night’s premiere of Murder on the Orient Express, Michelle Pfeiffer looked, undeniably, incredible. It would be easy to say that she looks great for 58, but you would say the same if she was 48. Over the past few months, Pfeiffer has continued to look nothing but fresh-faced and radiant on the red carpet.
While some celebrities have gone hard with Botox, fillers and the odd face lift, which has resulted in some peculiar looking stiff, puffy faces, Pfeiffer has taken a more reserved approach.
“She has had small tweaks, including Botox to keep her forehead, glabella (between the brows) and under eye area free of deep wrinkles,” says leading oculoplastic surgeon and aesthetic doctor Maryam Zamani. “It appears she has had some lip enhancement to maintain lip and cheek volume.”
Pfeiffer has spoken about ageing in the public eye over the years and even told InStyle in 2006 that she had ‘toyed’ with the idea of a face lift.
“Surgically speaking I think she might have had upper eyelid blepharoplasty to remove excess skin that can be responsible for a heavy eyelid,” says Dr Zamani. “Her jawline is very taut and this may be attributed to a beautifully done, natural lower face and neck lift.”
Dr Zamani isn’t the only expert to suggest Pfeiffer might have gone down the face lift route. Last year, plastic surgeon Dr Roger Amar said that the celebrity could have had a procedure similar to FAMI (Fat Autologous Muscle Injection), a non-invasive procedure that uses your own stem cells to restore and revive.
It’s not just about having the right amount of work done though. “Lifestyle, including her nutrition and exercise routine, has play an important part,” says Dr Zamani. “She has acknowledged that she is vigilant with sunscreen to prevent and diminish ultraviolet damage.”
Indeed, Pfeiffer has regularly talked about how she has cleaned up her lifestyle. In 1999, she told People, that in her twenties, “I did nothing beauty-wise. I smoked cigarettes, ate whatever I wanted and used bar soap on my face. People were horrified by how I treated my skin.” Since then, she’s used SPF religiously and has followed the vegan diet. With Vegan Month in full swing, Pfeiffer certainly makes the case for the regime’s benefits…
